Canceled

The joliette marathon race weekend has been cancelled due to unexpected additionnal Insurance and security surcharges which makes holding the event a financial loss. We have also had problems recruiting the many volunteers necessary to hold the event, so all the parties involved in holding the event, mutually agreed last night to cancel the event.

Skaters who wish to skate in Joliette that weekend as well as any other weekend are welcome to come and join the local Montreal crowd. Skaters meet around 9 am at Chez Henri Restaurant or get ready at the Pavillion and are usually on the ice by 10 am in order to enjoy the ice before it gets too crowded.

See our page on Joliette's Festi-Glace for an introduction to the ice on the Assomption River. The Marathon de la Rivière l'Assomption will take place on the beautifully-groomed picturesque skateway that winds through the heart of Joliette. Chip-timing courtesy of Marathon Skating International.

  • Directions

From Montreal: Hwy 40 East towards Quebec, take Exit 122 towards Joliette. This puts you on Hwy 31 North. After about 15 km you will arrive in Joliette. After the first Stop sign, continue straight and in the right lane; after 200 meters this will lead onto St-Charles-Borromée Street North. In short order you will pass the Cégep régional de Lanaudière, the Cathedral, and the residence of the Clercs de Saint-Viateur. Immediately after that and before the first stoplight, turn right onto Fabre Street. At the very end of the street you'll see the River Pavilion by the Assomption River.

To meet up with Roller-Montreal skaters, please note that we gather at the Chez Henri restaurant a little further along St-Charles-Borromée (1.6 km from where you turned onto it). Access to the ice is right behind the restaurant.
