The 5th annual Bytown Marathon races will be held at the Brewer Park Oval in Ottawa, Ontario, on January 16 and 17. 2010. This year we skate the traditional 25 km race, but the 40 km race will be replaced with a 75-minute challenge, where the winner will be the skater who covers the greatest distance in a fixed time. We will also include a 10 km race. Results of the 25 km and 75-minute challenge will count towards the
Important Rules
Passing
Slower skaters will skate on the inside track of the oval. Fasterskaters must pass on the outside. This will:
- Avoid accidents
- Let slower skaters improve their times
- Eliminate the need for faster skaters to call out each time they pass
- Avoid erratic moves across the lane
Place your number on your right thigh so it can be seen by the timers.
Electronic Chips
Please return your chip immediately after you finish your FINAL race ofthe weekend. If you are skating more than one race, you will use the same chipfor each race; no other chip will be handed out.
You are responsible for returning the electronic chip. You are also responsibleto wear it during the race to ensure that we are able to record your finishing timein the results.
